My Son

This is always gripping my heart. It is like the father has this somewhat anxious desire for his son the listen to him, to avoid the ways of evil that will bring shame on the son, and his father.

It says a lot about the character of the father. Always wanting the best for his son. Always checking and disciplining himself in order not to be a stumblingblock, leading an impeccable life, so that he have the right and the authority to expect the son to listen to and obey him and his wife.

Sadly, there is so little training given to parents, and the example of their parents and their peers many times have much to be desired. Add the fallenness of man and the ever present physical and spiritual enemies, with the world full of technology, and we all being slaves of time, slaves of possessions and position and power, this task becomes nigh impossible.

However, even though this seems a tall order, this topic has so many promises, alive, real, that for the man who cast himself on his YHWH and the Son, will be able to carry his son through the white waters of life.
