  • D20240727 - The LAW and the CHRISTIAN
    • V05 - The law of Moses - its primary function
      • V05 - The law's function is not to restore, heal and enable but to awaken sin, excite it into action, and then accuse and convict one of sinning
        • 001 Ro 7:7 What shall we say then Is the law sin God forbid Nay I had {1097} not known {1097} sin but by the law for I had not known lust except the law had said Thou shalt not covet
        • 002 Ro 7:8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.

        • Man, with that desire to have evil knowledge, consummated with the bite into the forbidden fruit, was transformed internally (and externally). He was separated from YHWH - and from each other - e.g. Adam accuses Eve not his own evil desire.

These desires and storms are awakened and excited by laws - and rebellion is the result, The law may hinder and control these, but it cannot subdue and transform the internal corruption.

    • V10 - The effect of the law - death - even though the law is holy, just and good
      • 001 Ro 7:10 And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.
      • 002 Ro 7:11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.
    • V15 - Sin in the flesh - the indomintable contender of the law having the law powerless and ineffective in man's life
      • 001 Ro 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
      • 002 Ro 7:15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
      • 003 Ro 7:17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
      • 004 Ro 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh, ) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
      • 005 Ro 7:19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.

        • In the deepest sense, repentance - which should be translated turn-around - occurs when man realises and acknowledges this deep ingrained corruption.
    • V20 - The law is outside - sin is inside, inseparately joined in the body, mind and heart of man
      • 001 Ro 7:20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
      • 002 Ro 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity, to the law of sin which is in my members.

        • Few, very few, warn and train new converts (and old!) about this inevitable war that erupts within man. Even though we are dead, we are not completely dead. Remnants of this corruption remains when man converts, and the flesh and sin are electrified and will fight to death, desparate not to be subdued.

It will try in millions of ways to continue enslavement, desparately - with the war is inside man.

    • V25 - The enabler and victor against sin in man - the good news. A NEW law the abolishes and replaces the OLD
      • 001 Ro 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free, from the law of sin and death.
      • 002 Ro 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
      • 003 Ro 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
    • V30 - The transformator of the flesh, and enabler to do the will of YHWH - the Holy Spirit
      • 001 Ro 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
    • V35 - We are not uninvolved zombies programmed from outside - YHWH gave our will and ability back - USE IT!
      • 001 Ro 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

        • We need to walk on the narrow road, and there are many turn-offs and deadly cliffs to the sides. We can go back to fleshly control and assured failure, unending cycle of fall and rise, or give over to anti-nomianism, giving up the fight and enjoy the pleasures of flesh - the main ones.

The command is clear, The instruction is clear and simple.

It is a crying shame that this truth is suppressed in the Christian community.

    • V40 - Our focus and goal on this earth - to become like YESHUA
      • 001 Ro 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

        • Conversion has one goal. To be reconciled with YHWH. To turn the rebellion of Adam around.

To become a citizen of the kingdom of YHWH, abiding by its culture, rules and laws. Being prepared to live at the end of time for eternity with YHWH,

To, with other similar transformed, form a body of Christ, a letter and witness to the world.

    • V45 - How we do - become like YESHUA
      • 001 Ro 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
      • 002 Ro 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
      • 003 2Co 4:6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

        • YESHUA's face was so marred He did not look like a man anymore. His own disciples did not recognised after He rose from his ordeal. In this face we see the love of YHWH - and that view should motivate us to be transformed.
    • V50 - Unspeakable privilege
      • 001 Eph 3:12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.
      • 002 Heb 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into, the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
      • 003 1Jo 4:17 Herein, is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

        • Adam sewed clothes to hide his nakedness, and hid from YHWH (YESHUA????). Adam was cast out of the garden onto a cursed earth.

YHWH effectively withdrew from man. Even with Moses, death ensued to anyone that entered the most holy who was not appointed - or even the appointed at the wrong time and wrong manner.

But that veil was torn. And now we, even we gentiles, are encouraged to go into the holiest of all.

Exciting - and frightening. A sword that exposes everything inside - naked and open to Him we are approaching.

    • V55 - The apex of our relationship with YHWH while we are here on earth
      • 001 Eph 3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
      • 002 Eph 3:18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
      • 003 Eph 3:19 And to know {1097} the love of Christ which passeth knowledge that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God
      • 004 Eph 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly, above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
    • V60 - Are we without law now?
      • 001 Heb 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
      • 002 Heb 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;

        • YHWH's law is eternal.

It is logical that this law is contained in some form or another in the law of Moses - but we are freed (gentiles were NEVER part of the law of the Jews) from any and all of the ritual and state laws.

However, in the New Covenant writings, two things are emphasised - love for YHWH and love for fellowman, especially a fellow believer.

          This is written in heart.

    • V65 - Which law(s)?
      • 001 Joh 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

      • 003 Joh 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
