Divorce is always messy. It was designed like that from the start. YHWH made married man and woman one flesh, and they are glued together. Like any two pieces that are relatively soft, if glued and then torn apart, the result is ugly. No wonder, an actual divorce procedure is usually a very messy affair, with lots of people that are seriously hurt.
Just wonder where is the church in warning people that want to marry the implications of this decision and the remifications that follows if the pair cannot keep it together.
Divorce is heavily frowned upon by YHWH, in fact He explicitly hates it. He allowed divorce in one instance only, and then it was based on the HARDNESS of the man's heart and the promicuity of the wife (having sex before marriage her marriage). In some cases she was actually stoned if the parents could not produce the proof of her virginity.
There are at least two camps in the Christian community; one that allows divorce and remarriage and the other devorce bu NO remarriage.
I have watch several reports from both camps, and IMHO, the first groups arguments are very thin, ignores impotant dimensions provided in the Bible, and possibly weak assumptions. In my opinion those arguments can relatively easily be neutralized.
On the other side were people that walk(ed) clearly a very dedicated path with YHWH, and their consciences ripped them apart after remarriage. They divorced their spouse. A well known and respected preacher claims to have followed this issue for thirty years and finds NO grounds for remarriage.
I do the same. Jesus has the final word here and it is VERY clear that remarriage constitutes adultery.
I know the hiper dispensationalists starts the New Covenant at the cross, but that is absolute nonsense as Jesus is the one that are coming to judge, His words are doing the judgment. He is not going to call Paul and ask Paul what was his, Paul's, opinion on divorce.
But even that argument, using "bondage" as a motivation is devoid of truth, as true marriage (one man one wife) is NEVER associated as a slave-master relation.
Please read the instructions of Jesus carefully. When they asked Him about a letter of divorce, He referred to "sent away". Note: the bill of divorce = sent away = hardness of heart = adultery if remarried.
