003 D20240613 - The law and righteousness
- V05 - The law exists as it is a reflection of YHWH's character and He expects His subjects to respect and conform to the rules of His kingdom
  - 001 De 4:8 And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?
  - 002 Isa 42:21 The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness' sake;, he will magnify the law, and make it honorable.
- V10 - This central theme regarding the law - it defines the standard against which righteousness and wickedness are measured
  - 001 Ps 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect {08549} converting the soul the testimony of the LORD is sure making wise the simple
  - 002 Ps 119:142 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.
  - 003 Isa 51:7 Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings.,

- V15 - YHWH's righteousness is never relaxed - and is framed in His laws as standard against which man is judged

- V16 - Blessedness of the wholesome, unimpaired, innocent, having integrity, what is complete or entirely in accord with truth and fact
  - 001 Ps 119:1 Blessed are the undefiled {08549} in the way who walk in the law of the LORD
- V20 - If the standards of YHWH are relaxed, the righteous is overwhelmed by the wicked
  - 001 Hab 1:4 Therefore, the law is slacked, and judgment doth never, go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore, wrong judgment proceedeth.
- V25 - YHWH judges
  - 001 1Sa 2:3 Talk no more so exceeding proudly;, let not arrogance come out of your mouth:, for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.
- V30 - Death to the wicked
  - 001 Eze 18:13 Hath given forth upon usury, and hath taken increase: shall he then live? he shall not live: he hath done all these abominations; he shall surely die;, his blood shall be upon him.
- V35 - YHWH expects the wicked to turn
  - 001 Eze 18:21 But if the wicked will turn from all, his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
  - 002 Eze 18:22 All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.
  - 003 Eze 18:23 Have I any pleasure at all, that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?
- V40 - A central theme of Paul - flesh, which is unsubmissive and rebellious against YHWH, CANNOT meet the law's requirements
  - 001 Ro 9:31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.
  - 002 Ga 3:21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid:, for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily, righteousness should have been by the law.
- V45 - Any endeavour to reach YHWH's standards results in a ignonious defeat against a monstrous enemy
  - 001 Ro 7:19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
  - 002 Ro 7:20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

- V50 - Man can reach a level of perfection in the law - adapted to meet the abilities and notions of his flesh
  - 001 Php 3:6 Concerning zeal, persecuting the ekklesia; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.
- V55 - This is the focus of faith - the believe and trust that YHWH would work in the believer to live in and meet the requirements of YHWH's laws
  - 001 Ro 3:21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
  - 002 Ro 4:13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
- V60 - What Christ has done sacrificially, and to man - death to flesh, rebirth in new life, indwelling of the Spirit - obviates the need of man to follow the law through his old nature
  - 001 Ro 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
  - 002 Ga 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
- V65 - The central truth of the New Covenant - the teachings and ways and character of YHWH is respected by those walking in the Spirit of YHWH
  - 001 Ro 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
- V70 - This is what the believer needs to focus on - to meet YHWH's standards through faith in what YESHUA has done, is and is doing in the believer's life
